Huduma Number (Namba) is a number provided through NIIMS registration that is the ‘source of truth’ of identity of all persons residing in Kenya. Unlike a national ID or birth certificate that is issued to only Kenyan Citizens, Huduma Number will be issued to all persons residing in Kenya, be it refugees or foreigners.

Those who have huduma namba will have an easier time to access government services like registration or renewal or replacement of National ID, Application for Passport, Application or renewal for driving license, Birth certificate e.tc.

Huduma number contains alot of documents that can be retrieved and used when required unlike asking for you to bring them.Those who want to apply for passport can confirm that one is required to have huduma number in order for their passport to be processed.

Below are the step by step guide on how to apply and get huduma number

Before starting the process from registration desk, ensure that you have your National Identification Card with you.You cannot embark on the registration process without it.

You must also ensure that you have the originals of all other documents that you want captured in your registration

Registration for a NIIMS for Huduma Namba (Number) is currently not done online because you are required to present yourself physically

Below is the form you will fill at the registration desk.If you do not have your documents, the various fields will be left blank.
The form can also be downloaded online.We have provided the link at the bottom of this post.

STEP 1: Get to the registration centre with your documents.
You can check from your area the nearest Huduma centre.
A clerk will provide you with a hard copy form to fill your bio-data.
The hard copies are available for free at the registration stations.

STEP 2: The first officer will check if all the information you have provided is accurate. Once satisfied, they will pass the form on to another officer who will transfer this information to a registration kit that stores captured data locally.

STEP 3: The registration officer will then take a photo of you.

STEP 4: The registration officer then takes images of your documents. At the end of the day, the information is uploaded to the server. The data is then the fed to the Huduma Namba Server and UPI is generated.

STEP 5: They will then take fingerprints in order to finish the registration process.

STEP 6: The clerk prepares and acknowledgement slip for you and gives it to you alongside all your documents. This is the slip that you will use to collect your Huduma Namba card once they are generated.
